Q. Is luxury vinyl tile/plank (LVT/LVP) better than sheet vinyl?

A. Yes. It is stronger, more durable, has a protective coating of aluminum oxide which makes it highly scratch resistant and will not tear or dent like traditional sheet vinyl. A. Luxury vinyl tile/plank comes in two types of flooring, glue down and floating. The glue down type of flooring must be glued to the sub-floor using a special LVT/LVP pressure sensitive adhesive. It is usually recommended for high traffic areas and commercial use and is normally less expensive than floating luxury vinyl tile/plank. The floating type of luxury vinyl tile/plank uses an edge joining system in which the vinyl planks lock together, so there is no glue required for installation. The luxury vinyl tile/plank is simply floated over your existing sub-floor and is not attached in any way to the sub-floor.
